2.         Pagtalakay
                        Discussion

A.        Kultural o Historikal na Impormasyon
                                    Cultural or Historical Information of the Song

1.         The song alludes to all sorts of jobs available in the Philippines, from menial to professional, from honorable to commonplace, from ordinary to none (no jobs).  It also categorizes people as regards their situation or condition (being student like lasalista to mean someone from De La Salle University; bystander, to mean “jobless”) area of residence (from Makati or Quezon City), the kind of living they do (movie writer, commuter, factory worker); as well as, of  close  relationships like “compadres” or “comadres” (meaning bound )by “church” like being godparents to a child.

2.         The person speaking in the song professes to love anyone for as long as s/he is duly employed but sometimes makes fun of the job by alluding to it with sarcasm.  The blue collar jobs like “latero” (someone who is a canner),  “basurero” (garbage man, but can also mean scavengers) or “kusinera” (cook) are mentioned to show that the personal mean well.

3.         Jobs in the diaspora are also cited in the song like “japayuki,    
                       
 hontoyuki,


bruneiyuki, and koreayuki”.  The “yuki” alludes to women as entertainers or factory or domestic workers in the countries mentioned (Japan, Korea, etc.). It is there, rhymed with the other “yuki” merely to rhyme and be source of laughter.

Tagalog, like other Austronesian languages, is gender-neutral; pronouns do not   even have specific genders.However, because Tagalog has had over three centuries of Spanish influence,   gender is usually differentiated in certain Spanish loanwords by way of the    suffixes -o (masculine) and -a (feminine).
