Original Text
English Translation
Sayawan sa aming baryo
There was a dance in our community
Orchestra ay nagkagulo-gulo
There was trouble with the orchestra
Ang kanilang mga instrumento
Because their instruments
Ay luma at sintunado
Were old and out of tune
Ang drummer ay inuubo-ubo
The drummer had a bad cold
Hikain pa ang nagbabaho
The bass player was astamatic
Saksoponista ay mga gago
The saxophone player is a nut
Taga tororot ay sira-ulo
The trumpeteer is a fool
Trumpet ay kalawangin
The trumpet is rusty
Barado at wala ng hangin
clogged and air does not come through
Trombone ay yupi-yupi na rin
The trombone is too dented
Ang taga-ihip ay bungal ang ngipin
The player has no teeth
Nagalit ang  mga barangay
The barangay town got mad
Orchestra'y kanilang inaway
Fought with the orchestra
Dahil sa kanilang tugtog
Because their music
Na walang kabuhay-buhay
That is so dull
Ipinalit ang hayop na kombo
They replaced them with the animal band
Baboy ang  nagbabaho
The pig became the bass player
Ang drummer ay aso
The dog is the drummer
Butiki ang nagpi-piyano
The lizzard plays the piano
Pusa ang organista
The organist is a cat
Manok ang gumigitara
The chicken plays the guitar
Ayos din ang aming disko
The disco is terrific
Sa tugtog ng hayop na kombo
With the music of the animal band
Nag-rock en roll and mga daga
The rats rocked and rolled
Nag-chacha ang mga palaka
The frogs danced the cha-cha
Nagalit ang kabayong bakla
The gay horse got upset
Dahil may kalabaw na tumutula
Because there is a carabao reciting poem
Palakpakan ang surot at ipis
The bugs and cockcroaches clapped
Sa gagamba na nag-flying trapeze
As the spider does the flying trapeze
Ayos din ang aming disko
The disco was terrific
Sa tugtog ng hayop na kombo
With the music provided by the animal band
Ayos din ang aming disko
The disco was terrific
Sa tugtog ng hayop na kombo
With the music provided by the animal band

                                    Discussion

A.        Kultural o Historikal na Impormasyon ng Awit
Cultural or Historical Information of the Song

The song illustrates a Filipino brand of humor.  It could be a commentary on orchestras or music bands whose instruments are not synchronize with each other; or, whose sound productions are not well-liked by the community.  At worst, it could be a commentary on the modern band music that is not accepted by most people so much so that is  likened to the cacophony of sounds produced by animals.  In fact, in the song itself, the townspeople seem to have enjoyed better the music produced by the animals.
